FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

Regenerative medicine is not a diagnostic test. During a consultation, a medical provider may evaluate persistent joint, tendon, ligament, muscle, cartilage, or bone-related problems—such as early osteoarthritis, tendinopathy, repetitive-use injuries, and certain sports injuries—to determine whether an orthobiologic treatment could be appropriate. Suitability and supporting evidence vary by condition and procedure, and many cell- or tissue-based products marketed for orthopaedic conditions are not FDA-approved.

Not in every case. For carefully selected patients, an orthobiologic treatment may help reduce symptoms, support healing, or delay the need for surgery. However, it cannot reliably correct every structural injury or advanced condition. Surgery may still be recommended when it offers the safest or most effective way to restore function.
Candidacy is determined through an individual medical evaluation. Your provider will review your symptoms, medical history, diagnosis, previous treatments, medications, activity level, goals, physical examination, and available imaging. The type and severity of the condition, your overall health, and the evidence supporting a particular procedure will help determine whether treatment is appropriate.
Generally, you do not need a final diagnosis before scheduling an initial evaluation. A provider can assess your symptoms, perform an examination, review previous medical records, and order imaging or other tests when necessary. Bringing any existing X-rays, MRI reports, treatment records, and medication lists may make the evaluation more efficient. Scheduling requirements may vary by clinic.
